KARATE-DO GOJUKAI INDIA (K.G.I.)

The Founding Family

The International Karate-Do Gojukai Association was founded by Kaiso (Founder) Gogen Yamaguchi. Yamaguchi was born on 20th January, 1909 in Kagushima, Japan and was a descendant of the Samurai and the chosen successor of Master Chojun Miyagi in 1953.

He set about uniting Goju dojos as one organisation, Gojukai. The martial arts fraternity in Japan bestowed upon him the honour of Grand Master, 10th Dan Hanshi and is therefore referred to as Kaiso, ‘Our Founder’.

His son Saiko Shihan Goshi Yamaguchi was born on 28th September, 1942 and he is the current President of the International Karate-Do Gojukai Association. He is a true inspiration and travels the world teaching and motivating students with strength and conviction despite his advanced years.

Shihan Gohei Yamaguchi is the son of Saiko Shihan Goshi Yamaguchi and is the Asia Bloc Director of I.K.G.A. His vision and character benefit the organization and create an instant bond with the younger generation of Karatekas.
